How to build a sports practice plan

A good practice plan is predictable and repeatable. AI Parent helps you structure sessions so students improve skills and practice consistently.

Pick a sport such as

  • basketball
  • football
  • soccer
  • baseball
  • tennis
  • swimming
  • volleyball

Generate → view → customize

  1. Generate the plan.
  2. Select the tasks that work best for you so the plan feels realistic and motivating.
  3. View the schedule and edit the days, times, duration, start date, and end date as needed.

Set the time budget

Depending on age and skill level.

  • Practice frequency (2–7 days/week)
  • Session length (15–90 minutes)

A simple practice routine

  • Warmup (5–10 min)
  • Skill drills (10–30 min)
  • Game-like reps (10–30 min)
  • Cooldown (3–8 min)
  • Advice: take breaks in between exercises to lower the risk of injury.

How to keep motivation high

  • Keep tasks fresh and engaging by generating new ones over time.
  • Celebrate effort and consistency (not just performance).
  • If the tasks feel too difficult, generate plans with easier tasks to complete.
  • If there are tasks you already complete regularly, you can add them to AI Parent using Custom Plan creation.

Best practices

  • Pro tip: If you want to focus on something specific, such as an unlisted sport, particular drills, or tasks matched to a skill level, use the custom goal to enter your own requirements for the plan, tasks, and schedule.
